α-Pyrrolidinopentiophenone (also known as alpha-pyrrolidinovalerophenone, α-PVP, alpha-PVP, O-2387, β-keto-prolintane, Prolintanone, or Desmethyl Pyrovalerone) is a synthetic stimulant of thecathinone class developed in the 1960s that has been sold as a designer drug. 

Colloquially it is sometimes called flakka or gravel. α-PVP is chemically related to pyrovalerone and is the ketoneanalog of prolintane.

alpha-Pyrrolidinopentiophenone (abbreviated α-PVP; also known as A-PVP, alpha-PVP, or Flakka) is a synthetic stimulant drug of the cathinone and pyrovalerone classes.

α-PVP is chemically similar to other pyrovalerone compounds such as MDPV and cathinone compounds found in the khat plant of eastern Africa.[citation needed] It generally comes in the form of either a crystalline powder or crystallized shards which users can ingest to produce powerful but short-lived euphoric stimulant effects which are comparable to those of methamphetamine and cocaine when insufflated or vaporized.[citation needed

α-PVP has a short history of use and is subject to much scrutiny by the media, similar to how MDPV and "bath salts" were portrayed in early 2011.[citation needed] It is commonly mass produced in China and sold as a research chemical through online vendors.
